Guilbert ends his 53-year ABC link

GRAHAM GUILBERT has walked away from the Amalgamated Boys' Club after more than half-a-century of involvement.

However, after citing 'serious issues' with fellow members of the club's committee for the decision, it will not be the end of his involvement in local boxing.

The 65-year-old, pictured, confirmed that after stepping down from the Amalgamated, he has been approached to start a new club, the Guernsey Boxing Academy.

'Working it out, I have been with the Amalgamated club for 53 years straight through, starting from when I first boxed aged 13,' he said.

'So it is a sad day for me to walk away now, but there were three or four issues I had with a couple of the other members of the committee.
