Small in number but big in expectations
SHOOTING will be sending one of Guernsey's smallest teams to the Island Games, but Nikki Trebert sees no reason why a number of medals cannot make their way back home.
SHOOTING will be sending one of Guernsey's smallest teams to the Island Games, but Nikki Trebert sees no reason why a number of medals cannot make their way back home.
About to compete in her sixth Games, air pistol shooter Trebert is one of two competitors in that discipline, along with Rebecca Margetts, while Lee Roussel is the sole air rifle shooter.
The trio all have strong Games pedigree and Trebert is particularly keen to make up for missing the last edition two years ago with success in Bermuda.
'I didn't compete in the Isle of Wight because I was having a baby around that time and am desperate to prove that after that, I have come back as strong as I was before,' she said.
'Winning medals is especially important because I didn't win any at all in Aland in 2009 and I was particularly disappointed with myself that week.'
