GEORGE MELHUISH will be defending his title in tomorrow's Swoffers L'Ancresse Open.
The popular member of the host club was one of four players to shoot a five-under-par net 65 last year, winning on countback from Ross Wheeler, Phil Miles and Willie Kirkpatrick.
Melhuish will tee up at 1.30pm as part of a capacity field of 171 as, once again, this particular 'major' of the Guernsey golf calendar was oversubscribed.
'I'm hoping for a good defence of the title this year,' said Melhuish in an internet feature on Swoffers TV. 'It's the most prestigious competition in the Channel Islands by far I'd say and so to win it last year was extra special and to get my name on the board was superb.'
