NIGEL WARD certainly had that winning feeling over the weekend.
After being part of the victorious quartet in Friday's team event, the 56-year-old L'Ancresse member maintained his momentum into Saturday afternoon when he came out on top in the Swoffers L'Ancresse Open thanks to an outstanding net 65.
Yet there was no one more surprised than Ward himself.
'I have not really played that many competitions this year, but I have played quite regularly over the last four or five weeks so I have had some practice recently,' he said.
'But I have never won an individual medal competition before so I had no expectations of winning today.'
