TEENAGER Jeremy Nicolle has achieved one of his goals and will make his full island debut in next month's inter-insular.

The 17-year-old was yesterday named by new Guernsey men's captain Julian Woodhard in his 10-strong team who will attempt to wrestle back the Challenge Trophy from Jersey at L'Ancresse on 7 and 8 September.

After winning the Island Junior Championship in May, Nicolle outlined his ambition of making the Guernsey team.

He had already successfully defended the Brymay Cup at that point and went on to win the scratch salver in the L'Ancresse Open, post the best score in the L'Ancresse Club Championship and won the four-day Jersey Junior Festival off scratch.

This year, he has seen his handicap drop from a high of 6.0 to 1.9 currently. He is the only debutant in the team.

GUERNSEY TEAM

Danny Bisson, Danny Blondel, Jamie Blondel, Andy Eggo, Bobby Eggo, David Jeffery, Steve Mahy, Sean Mills, Jack Mitchell and Jeremy Nicolle. Non-playing captain: Julian Woodhard.
