NIC POTHAS takes his national squad to Sussex today as the Sarnians complete their competitive preparations for the Marlborough Trophy showdown against Jersey with two 50-over clashes against the Sussex Academy.

With the inclusion of several youngsters, most notably Luke Le Tissier, who has impressed Guernsey's director of cricket when playing for both the U19s and U17s this past fortnight, Pothas says there a still a clutch of places to be won for the match against Jersey.

'I would say that we are at the point where five names pick themselves, but it is an open shop for the other six.

'There are six places for grabs.'

Guernsey will be without Jeremy Frith, their most influential and dependable performer, in Sussex when they play the parent county in a day/night match at Hove this evening and then a second one at the Blackstone ground on Sunday. Frith is coaching the Guernsey team at the ICC European Under-15 Division One Championship at Rugby School.

Guernsey squad:

Jamie Nussbaumer (captain), Adam Martel, Jordon Martel, Ross Kneller, James Gale, Max Ellis, Lucas Barker, Tom Kimber, Ben Ferbrache, Matt Stokes, Ollie Nightingale and Luke Le Tissier.
