ABIGAIL HOWARD is the new Royal Guernsey Ladies' club champion.

She added a second round 76 to her 86 from the first leg a week earlier for a gross aggregate of 162 and beat fellow teenager Stephanie Ballay to the Canivet Trophy on countback.

Howard's second round included birdies at the fourth, fifth and 14th holes as well as seven pars.

Sue Wellfair was third a shot back.

Aimee Ponte, who was unavailable to play in the first leg as she was competing in the British Girls' Open, shot the lowest gross score of the second round with a 75 in her final 18 holes at L'Ancresse before departing for the University of Texas at San Antonio.

Carol Counihan won the La Jaonneuse Trophy played off handicap with a two round aggregate of 137 after she added a net 69 to her opening 68.

She finished one shot ahead of Clare Tee with Laura Jeffrey third, four shots further back.
