ANOTHER record-breaking afternoon is predicted as the penultimate Le Val des Terres hill climb of the season takes place on Bank Holiday Monday.

It is also the last to be staged by the Guernsey Motorcycle and Car Club in 2013 and president Ian Le Page is pleased with the entry list, which stands at around 115.

'Jersey have also got a hill climb on at the same time, so that means there are a dozen or so who aren't coming over that normally would, mostly on the bikes,' he said.

'But 115 is still a really good entry and with the weather looking on our side again and most of the fastest guys involved, I would expect more records to fall.

'It has been a great year as a whole for the hill climbs, the highlight being the success of the national and the outright hill record going on that day.'

Also this weekend is the Guernsey Kart and Motor Club's big annual two-day motocross meeting at Pleinmont, starting at 9am today.

It has been brought forward from October when it has been held in previous years.

With a revamped racing course and a sizeable entry list, including a number from Jersey, club president John Watson is hoping for a successful event.

'There have been some alterations to the course and we are also racing in the opposite direction to last year,' he said.

'We have had a few problems recently and had a challenge notice from the Environment Department, but they have been very fair with us and given us advice to sort it out, so we are very grateful for that.

'The reason that we have brought this event forward is because ours always used to be in the winter and Jersey's in the summer, so riders from each island were always racing in the other event out of season.

'Jersey are coming to the end of their season, while this is effectively the start of ours.'
