Guernsey seniors triumph at Horse of the Year Show

THE final day of the 2013 BS Guernsey Horse of the Year Show turned out to be a very memorable one for Sian Staples and Chica B.

The local combination enjoyed both individual and team success as the curtain came down on another excellent five-day event at Chemin Le Roi.

Staples had already been crowned Senior Showjumper of the Year when she and Chica B returned to the main arena for the traditional finale of HOYS – the concluding second leg of the senior team match between Guernsey, Jersey and the England quartet.

Honours in the inter-insular clash were even after Friday's first leg, which both Guernsey and Jersey came through with no faults to their name, while the English team were on four faults.

After Sunday's concluding leg, though, only Guernsey remained faultless to win both the inter-insular Settyres Trophy and the overall Ringer Memorial Trophy thanks to clear rounds from Cathy Best on L'Amour, Mel Round on Cobrino Cruise, Staples on Chica B and team captain Emma Dorey on Snaffles Purple Patch.
