ALICE GALLIENNE will hope to make it as a top-level Super League player when she has trials at Celtic Dragons in the coming weeks.

The 16-year-old Guernsey girl, who plays her local netball for Nerine, left the island heading for Wales yesterday to attend college in Nantgarw, a village just outside Cardiff.

There she will attend a trials session at the Cardiff-based side on an as yet unconfirmed date, as well as having a similar opportunity on 10 September at Surrey Storm's junior NTL side.

Also on the horizon for her is a trip to South Africa to represent England's under-18s in the World Indoor Nets Age Group Championships.

Gallienne is confident ahead of her busy few weeks of netball.

'I'm actually away in South Africa when Celtic Dragons have their trials day, but luckily they've let me trial afterwards in the second round when I'm back,' she said.

'They are looking for defenders and I am confident that I will be good enough to do well and hopefully impress on that day.

'The trials with Surrey are through their coach, who is part of the group going to South Africa and it will be great to get these opportunities by going away to the UK.'
