THREE Guernsey riders won their age-group titles at the RTTC National Circuit Championships in Dorset last weekend.

Sophie Dorey, Dan Alderton and Karina Bowie all tasted success against a high-quality field of elite riders from around the UK on a hilly technical course that tested all riders to the max.

Fifteen-year-old Dorey, who is still recovering from a nasty accident she had recently while contesting a criterium series in the UK, needed all her reserves to power her way up a five-mile uphill section of the course into a headwind before completing the rest of the course.

She then had to repeat the same route, finishing in a time of 58min. 48sec. winning the national title for her age group.

Alderton then won his second national age-group title of the year in 47-56 and made it to the podium in third place with only the two Olympic development riders ahead of him.

Island Games medallist Bowie posted a finishing time of 51-48, which secured her the third national age-group title of the season.
