HEATHER WATSON has been knocked out in the first round of the KDB Korea Open.

The Guernsey star took the opening set 6-3 against Kimiko Date-Krumm in Seoul, but the 42-year-old Japanese veteran fought back to win the next two 6-3, 6-4.

Currently No. 63 in the world, Date-Krumm is 15 places above Watson in the rankings and is a former winner of this WTA hard-court event, having lifted the trophy in 2009.
