OLLIE LANGLOIS'S one-year rest does not appear to have done him any harm.

He was the outstanding Sarnian player as Ravenscroft 1 opened their British National League campaign in Cheshire, outshining the Guernsey and CI champion Garry Dodd in the process.

Over the four matches played over two days, Langlois won six of his eight rubbers, while Dodd, most unusually, had a worse than 50% success rate with three wins.

With Phil Ogier registering four victories and Matt Stubbington, filling in for the unavailable Alice Loveridge, claiming two wins, it added up to Ravenscroft 1 ending the opening round lying sixth of the eight sides in the division.

As expected, the division is very tight and, despite their lowly placing, the Guernsey side is only three points behind the joint leaders – Drumchapel Glasgow II and Northfield TTC.
