AT 5-1 down in the first few minutes there were a few worrying moments for the dual Panthers coaching team of Gill Queripel and Denise Bourgaize at the East Grinstead Sports Centre on Sunday.

But, once settled, the much-changed Panthers side took control and by the first break were 12-10 ahead, a lead they extended over the next two quarters, before Phoenix had the better of the final quarter.

Queripel said that CD Phoenix Two were better than their bottom-of-the-table position suggested.

'I think they had played the top teams,' she said.

'When they play some of the other sides I'm sure they will get some wins.'

The coach admitted the slow starts were proving something of a worry and they needed to get to the bottom of it.

'We have got to start coming out of the blocks much quicker,' she said.
