Thunder A defeat the champions

THE champions will have to play catch-up if they are to successfully defend their Specsavers Winter League Division One title.

Kristy Webber's side were ultimately well beaten on a really blustery night at Beau Sejour, Thunder dominating the centre court area and resisting a strong fightback by Rezzers in the third quarter when the match had seemed to be sliding away from them.

After a tight first period which ended 7-7, Thunder A made their big move in the second quarter.

By half-time they had surged into a 21-13 advantage and although the champions dug in and reduced the deficit to just two early in the third quarter, Thunder edged well clear again and there never seemed any doubt they would hold on and move nine points clear of the title-holders, albeit with a match more played.
