Defeat leaves Panthers in need of help
NENA COPPERWAITE insists Guernsey Panthers must remain focused on their own performances, despite now needing outside help if they are to win Division Three South at the first attempt.
The Sarnian side suffered a disappointing Sunday in the UK, where they lost out 42-34 to title favourites Meon, the second time that the Portsmouth-based team have got the better of the Panthers this season.
Panthers were behind from the first quarter through to the last and the defeat means that while Panthers remain top, Meon are just a single point behind and have a game in hand on Gill Queripel and Denise Bourgaize's girls.
'It was tough and physical, particularly their defence and it was getting really feisty at one or two different points in the game,' said captain Copperwaite.
'We have no complaints about the result, Meon were the better team on the day and fully deserved to pick up the win, but we will make sure we learn from this and improve as a result.'
