Navy netballers will visit Guernsey next month

GUERNSEY PANTHERS will bridge a three-week league break by hosting the Royal Navy in a series of friendly matches in the island next month.

The Navy were the first team the Panthers ever played on home soil, in February last year, when the Sarnians were overwhelming victors.

But that has not dampened the enthusiasm of the Navy, who are visiting Guernsey for a week in late-February for a training camp and playing a number of games in that time.

Panthers' first team will face them again, as well as the under-16s, under-19s, veterans and a Guernsey select team, although it is the 'B' team who will take centre stage.

They face the Navy in the headline Saturday night game at Beau Sejour on 22 February, with the first team having their own match 48 hours later at the Grammar School.

Before all of that, though, their focus is a pair of friendly matches this coming weekend, at 2.30pm on both Saturday and Sunday at Beau Sejour, against Kent County Club.
