Reynolds unhappy despite bonus-point win
Guernsey 34, Thurrock 14
GUERNSEY were back to winning ways on Saturday – not that you would know it by the thunderous look on Jordan Reynolds' face.
Asked for his assessment of his side's performance immediately after this bonus-point victory, the GRFC head coach shook his head and muttered, 'it was just disappointing'.
'We had a poor mindset today,' he said when eventually prepared to elaborate.
'I think we looked at the team we were playing today and we did not play our own rugby.
'We got sucked down to Thurrock's level and they did well to do that to us, but that's not a performance we should be happy with.'
With the strong wind at their backs, Guernsey were 22-0 up by half-time thanks to two tries from Jason Batiste, one from Cameron Craine and seven points from the boot of Sam Whitehead.
But the hosts dropped off the pace for large periods after the turnaround and Thurrock took advantage with two converted tries, although Guernsey scored twice more themselves through Tom Ceillam and Luke Sayer, with Whitehead converting the latter.
