Guernsey through to EH Women's Trophy quarter-finals

Guernsey 2, West Wilts 0

GUERNSEY have taken the step up in level to the Investec EH Women's Trophy like a duck to water.

Their second straight 2-0 victory in the competition has booked the current EH Vase holders a place in the quarter-finals and yesterday's success at Footes Lane could, and really should, have been far more comfortable.

The home side dominated West Wilts from first whistle to last, with Guernsey captain and goalkeeper Emma Atkinson not touching the ball until the final minute of 70.

A goal in either half proved enough to secure safe passage through, with Izzy Gingell and Georgia Smith getting on the scoresheet.

'I said to them after the game that we have moved into the Trophy to challenge ourselves but we have just come off a little bit frustrated to have only won 2-0 so that's a good sign,' said Guernsey coach David Wray.

Guernsey have been drawn at home to North Notts in the quarter-finals.
