Dodd a class apart as he wins fourth title in a row
JERSEY'S finest table tennis players were unable to prevent Garry Dodd from claiming his fourth consecutive Channel Island Top 12 championship title on Saturday, as the Sarnian ran riot at the Geoff Reed Centre.
Dodd lost just two sets in the entire tournament – which included six matches in the Guernsey qualifier, held prior to last weekend – on his way to successfully defending his title.
Jersey development officer Craig Gascoyne finished second, but even he struggled to contend with the quality of Dodd's play.
The pair met in the final match of the day, which turned out to be the championship decider as both still had their one hundred per cent record intact.
Unfortunately for the home supporters, the Jersey representative could wrestle only one set off Dodd as he slipped to an 11-6, 11-5, 8-11, 11-4 defeat.
