New Junior Section at the Royal Guernsey

A NEW era has dawned at the Royal Guernsey Golf Club with the formation of a new Junior Section to replace the former Guernsey Junior GC.

At the turn of the year, all members of the now-defunct GJGC were sent invitations to join the RGGC, where a new committee has been installed to oversee the under-18 age group.

'The objective is to relaunch junior golf here in a different way. Golf is past its boom in Guernsey, as it is in the UK, and juniors are the future,' said the 2014 Royal Guernsey captain Mike Goddard.

'When 18, they have the opportunity to join either golf club – L'Ancresse or the Royal. The idea is that they are able to nominate which club they will join in their last year as a junior.

'If they find their way through to a standard, the L'Ancresse or the Royal will take them straight on as seven-day members.'

The Royal Guernsey GC Junior Section will be holding an Open Day on Saturday 22 February from 1-3pm at L'Ancresse.
