Panthers captain says manner of defeat is 'unacceptable'

A FAR from happy Nena Copperwaite criticised the manner in which a second-half collapse saw Guernsey Panthers' title hopes all but end on Sunday.

Having led Sussex NRG Pumas by nine goals at half-time in their Division Three South match in the UK, Panthers threw that lead away in the third quarter for a level game and went on to lose 44-37.

That 16-point swing in half a match was down to basic errors, according to captain Copperwaite, who admitted the performance from the visitors wasn't good enough.

'If you come off the court at the end of a game and can say you have played to the best of your ability, then I am not too worried about the final result,' she said.

'But I have watched the match back on video and I have counted 39 unforced errors in just one hour of netball, which simply isn't acceptable at all.'
