Guernsey ready to face the Malaysian heat
NIC POTHAS has backed his Guernsey team to overcome quickly the challenge of not playing any competitive cricket in the lead-up to their World Cricket League campaign.
The Sarnians leave tomorrow for Malaysia, via Dubai, for their Division Five test against the hosts, Jersey, Nigeria, the Cayman Islands and Tanzania, looking to make history by getting promoted.
Before their first match against the Caymans a week on Thursday are three warm-up games against local teams and Pothas has stated their importance in what will be harsh weather conditions.
'The guys wouldn't have played a match in five months and have had limited outdoor preparation, so it is a big challenge that needs to be overcome,' said the Guernsey director of cricket.
'But the lads have worked incredibly hard, they have all been doing four fitness sessions per week at tough times, like 6am, in a total of probably about 15 hours' work per week.
