Thunder A close in on Division One title

THEY were forced to withstand a late fightback, but Nerine Thunder A closed in on the Division One title at Beau Sejour last night by deservedly beating the reigning champions.

Going into the fourth quarter, Thunder led by what looked a relatively comfortable margin of 31-24, but a fighting Resolution were not about to give up the game easily and reduced that deficit to three at one point.

However, the middle part of the game, which had seen an excellent Thunder open up that substantial advantage, proved decisive as Jenny Jordan and the impressive Shelley Jager kept Resolution at arm's length until the end with some key goals.
