Guernsey pro eyeing a European title shot this year

AFTER altering his fight preparations, Bradley Watson is convinced that 2014 will see him win the WBO European super-flyweight title in the autumn.

The 23-year-old Guernsey pro has not fought for six months and his perfect career record remains at seven wins, after he was forced to pull out of recent fights with illness.

In the wake of that, he has decided to change trainers and will now be trained locally by Ben Duff and Luke Graham, rather than flying to the UK well in advance of fights.

His next scheduled bout is on Friday 11 April at the Camden Centre in London, where he will come up against a yet unconfirmed opponent in a six-round contest.

Despite still being promoted by Mickey Helliet, it is a drastic change for Watson, who is confident it will pay dividends in an important few months on the horizon.

If it goes according to plan, he has a target of his 10th fight being for that WBO European belt in September against Jamie Conlan, an Irishman who is currently undefeated in 10 pro contests.
