Banbury are the final obstacle for Guernsey

CONVERTING their chances will be the key to Guernsey making it third time lucky in the Now Pensions EH Men's Trophy.

The Sarnians booked their place in a third successive final with their 3-1 win over Formby at Footes Lane on Saturday and will now face Banbury in the showpiece occasion on Saturday 3 May in Nottingham.

'We have spent a lot of time in the last few weeks working on our finishing and that's going to be crucial in our final,' said Whalley after win against Formby.

'We have shown that we are very good in midfield, we are good at the back, too, and we create a lot of chances.'

While this will be Guernsey's fourth appearance in the EH Men's Trophy final, Banbury will be featuring in the showpiece occasion for the fifth time.

They won their first final in 2004, were runners-up in 2006 before winning back-to-back Trophies in 2007 and 2008 and they current sit third in South Division Two.

They won their semi-final 4-3 away at Truro to set up the meeting with Guernsey.

Meanwhile, Guernsey women's coach David Wray admitted that his side were 'disappointed but knew we went out to a good team' after they suffered a 2-0 defeat in their Investec EH Trophy semi-final at holders Henley on Sunday.

However, Wray added that for a first adventure in the Trophy, his side did well to reach the last four.

'I am really proud of the effort everybody has put in, their commitment and the improvement they have made.'
