Guernsey's men's hockey team ready for EH Trophy final

GUERNSEY head to Nottingham aiming to make it third time lucky in the Now Pensions EH Trophy final.

The Sarnians, who won the competition back in 2009, have suffered agonising defeats in the showpiece occasion of the last two editions of the Trophy – 2-1 to Gateshead and then 3-2 via an extra-time golden goal to Lewes in Wakefield 12 months ago.

However, they have not dwelt on those defeats and they go into Saturday's clash with Banbury at the Highfields Sports Centre, the home of Premier League outfit Beeston, with plenty of momentum.

'Obviously we have had disappointment in the last two finals, but it feels a little different this year,' said Guernsey player-coach Andy Whalley.
