Parkman, who has won the CI championship the last two years, has been given one of the wild-card spots by the tournament organisers and yesterday said he was excited at the prospect of playing Guernsey's elite over an extended competition and also playing at La Grande Mare for the first time.

'This will be a great chance for me to play a new course and test my skills against Guernsey's best golfers, which is always a tough challenge,' said the highly-personable Parkman.

'I see it as a great opportunity for primarily Guernsey but also Jersey to showcase their best golfers.

'The Channel Islands have some top amateur players, this was shown a few weeks ago when we played Hampshire.'
