Dodd's brilliant winning run comes to an end
THE modern-day king of table tennis was dethroned at the GTTA Centre last night by the man he had deposed.

Phil Ogier (pictured), himself a six-times champion, unexpectedly ended the six-year reign of Garry Dodd, taking the final by four sets to two.
Ogier took the first two sets and while Dodd scrapped his way back into the match, there was no let-up from Ogier who went to 10-6 match point as Dodd lost a bout of distance-smashing and then failed to cope with Ogier's next serve.
Alice Loveridge was made to work harder than perhaps expected to claim another women's singles title from the No. 2 seed Dawn Morgan who took the second set 13-11 to briefly square the match and also went close in the fourth.
