The 22-year-old Sarnian beat Barbora Zahlavova Strycova 6-3, 6-4 in the French Open first round, the ninth win in a row for Watson, but that excellent run now faces its toughest test.
Simona Halep stands in Watson's way in the last-64 today and the Romanian, also 22, is arguably the world's second-best player on current form.
'If anything, I'll try and be more aggressive against a player like that, who is so solid, so high up in the rankings and doing so well,' Watson said.
Watson v. Halep is scheduled to be fourth match on Court 1 today.
