Taylor captains England to silver medal in South Africa

NOT only is she an England World Cup captain, but Naomi Taylor now has a silver medal to show for her recent trip to South Africa.

The Guernsey-born netball star, who now plays and coaches for Surrey Storm, was skipper of the English women's indoor nets team that competed in the World Indoor Netball Championships.

Split into two separate tournaments, six-a-side and seven-a-side respectively, England competed against South Africa, another invitational team from the host nation and Australia.

In the former of the two formats, namely the smaller-sided game, England excelled to pick up a superb runner's-up spot after the three days.

One of England's coaches was another Sarnian, namely Gill Queripel, who was delighted with how the week in Johannesburg went. 'We were aiming for gold going into the tournament, but to win silver is still a fantastic achievement and we are closing the gap all of the time,' she said.
