SWIMMING'S most prestigious local meets can no longer be staged at Beau Sejour.

The 25m pool is not 25m and been declared too short for top competition.

Brian Allen, president of the Guernsey Amateur Swimming Association, said that the island's No. 1 pool has been caught out like many others across the country due to bulging electronic timing boards which have foreshortened the pool.

In the short term it will require moving big events to St Sampson's high, which is not affected, and Allen said that both Gasa and Culture and Leisure are currently investigating the logistics of ensuring that the pool at Beau Sejour – the home of competitive swimming for nearly 40 years – can once again meet ASA and FINA regulations for higher level competitions.
