But victory, coupled with a first-round win for his fellow islander, the 2013 CI champion Matthew Parkman over Guernsey's new junior title-holder Robbie Garner, would see the two Royal Jersey men clash in round two.

Meanwhile, the two club professionals, Royal Guernsey's Michael Durcan and La Grande Mare's Ben Mellon, are in opposite halves of the draw.

Defending champion Dave Jeffery and Guernsey great Bobby Eggo have also drawn as yet unnamed qualifiers, four of which will emanate from this weekend's qualifying event.

'In betting terms, I would consider myself 5/1 for the title – but wouldn't risk my own money on it,' said Jeffery.
