Optimists' first win does Cobo a favour
ALEX BUSHELL demonstrated his huge hitting power as Optimists secured their first win of this Evening League Division One season.
Coming in with his side at 62 for two just short of the halfway point, the teenager let fly with a stunning innings of 85 not out.
Facing just 40 balls, he cleared the boundary rope six times and also added five fours as he ruined virtually every Rovers bowler's figures.
It accelerated his side to finally reach 193 from their 20 overs and, although Rovers gave it a really good go, they eventually fell 11 runs short.
The result moves Optimists to within four points of Rovers and keeps alive their hopes of survival, although they will probably still need to win all three of their remaining matches.
In a result that has ramifications at the top end of the table, too, Cobo will be crowned champions should they defeat St Pierre on Thursday.
