Goodyear remains king of the Terres

JOS GOODYEAR once again proved he is king of Le Val des Terres by dominating two rounds of the National Hill Climb Championships on Saturday.

Although the brilliant Midlander saw the lunchtime thunderstorm ruin his hopes of breaking the hill record, he was still able to win both top-12 run-offs.

In the second, with what was the final run of an exciting afternoon, he crossed the line in a breathtaking 27.55sec.

That was not much slower than his own hill record of 27.17 set last year, despite parts of the course still being damp from the earlier onslaught of hail.

Earlier, he was the only man in the first run-off to go 'sub-30' with another magnificent effort of 29.75 on a course that was still wet from bottom to top.
