Pothas names squads for inter-insular warm-ups
AFTER naming his Guernsey squads for their final inter-insular preparation matches, Nic Pothas admits that the door is still open for others to force their way in to face Jersey.
The island's director of cricket has picked two 12-man squads for brief back-to-back series in Newcastle and Sussex respectively, with seven players named in both groups.
Among them are teenagers Matt Stokes and Tom Nightingale, the latter named in a senior Guernsey squad for the first time at the age of just 15.
Despite not being involved in these particular tour squads, Pothas has not ruled out picking two of Guernsey's biggest names, former professionals Lee Savident and Tim Ravenscroft.
'All I will say on those two players is that I will never shut the door on quality, match-winning cricketers, which both Tim and Lee continue to be,' he said.

v. Northern Universities (18-21 Aug): Jamie Nussbaumer (captain), Jason Martin, Dave Hooper, Lucas Barker, Tom Nightingale, Will Fazakerley, Adam Martel, Jordon Martel, Matt Stokes, Jeremy Frith, Luke Le Tissier, Ollie Newey.
v. Sussex and Oxfordshire Academies (23-25 Aug): Jamie Nussbaumer (captain), Tom Kimber, Dave Hooper, Lucas Barker, Tom Nightingale, Max Ellis, Ben Ferbrache, Will Peatfield, Matt Stokes, Jeremy Frith, Ollie Nightingale, Ollie Newey.
