Keat through to two major singles finals
JOHN KEAT, the former Hampshire county player, is threatening to challenge the hierarchy of men's bowls after qualifying for two of its biggest and most prestigious finals.
In the on-island championship semi-final weekend at Delancey, the tall left-handler and Vale Rec member, reached both the final of the Elliot Singles men's championship, which carries entry into the British Isles Championships in 2015, and the open singles.
In the process he defeated two multiple champions in Matt Le Ber and Gary Pitschou, colleagues at the Corbet Field.
While Keat awaited news as to who he would meet in the open singles final – Garry Collins or Adrian Atkinson – the women's singles final line-up was settled with Lucy Beere and Jackie Nicolle winning through.
