Tim de Putron, in particular, went on the offensive after Guernsey, chasing 150 for victory in 40 overs, lost opener Tim Belton.

De Putron smashed anything wide of off stump, but also lifted three big sixes over a shortish mid-wicket boundary.

He had rushed onto 80 off 66 balls when Ward Jenner snaffled him with possibly the slowest ball of the match.

But with de Putron gone, Richard Headington kept up the good work and reached his own half-century just before the target was reached after a short break for a downpour.

Earlier, Steve Birkett had been the most successful of the Guernsey bowlers with his left-arm spin producing figures of four for 37.
