GUERNSEY travelled to the north-east about 70% whole in terms of strength, so although beaten a second time by the Northern Universities, there was encouragement in the performance.

With Lucas Barker scoring 79 in fine style and showing the benefit of a season playing in the Sussex Premier League, Guernsey got within 42 runs of the NUSC's all out total of 305 on a chilly day.
Dave Hooper had gone to the very first ball of the reply, but then Barker and Ollie Newey added 130 for the second wicket.
There was a brave attempt by the middle and lower order to maintain the chase, Jeremy Frith scoring a quick 17, Matt Stokes reaching 20 and Jason Martin 39, while the captain, Jamie Nussbaumer, scored a rapid 20.
