Hove summit looms for GCB
WHEN Guernsey and Sussex league officials sit down at the county ground in Hove next month to discuss the island's proposed entry into the county league, the Sarnians are sure to get 'a good hearing'.
That's the view of Dave Brooks, who as chief executive restored the county's fortunes on and off the pitch, and now sits on the Guernsey Cricket Board as an ex-officio member.
Brooks, who attended the GCB's three-day strategy summit last week, said if Guernsey are to get an invitation into a UK league, Sussex was its best chance of acceptance.
'Sussex have been always very supportive of everything we are doing cricket wise in Guernsey.'
The hope is that Guernsey will mirror the Sussex Academy side and be accepted to play each of the other 10 Premier League sides once over the course of the season.
This past season that would have meant 50-over games against Brighton & Hove, Eastbourne, East Grinstead, Horsham, Hastings & St Leonards, Bexhill, Roffey CC, Cuckfield, Three Bridges and Preston Nomads, plus the strong Sussex Academy.
