Greening rubs salt into faltering Eagles' wounds
YOUNG Abbie Greening came off the replacements' bench to rub defeated Eagles' noses in it after the early-season Division Three South pacesetters again came a cropper at Beau Sejour.
At 38-33 the game was won and the final hooter had been sounded to confirm just that, but Greening's long-range shot would still have extra significance, regardless if it dropped in the ring or not.
Greening, who had come on for Shelley Jager at half-time, steadied herself and with the ball hitting its intended target, Panthers took a second bonus point away from Eagles which would have been theirs had they finished within five.
Such is the competitiveness of the division Greening's late score may prove crucial in the final end of season standings, but regardless of whether it had gone in or not the victory was of primary importance and this good little run Panthers are now on makes them serious contenders for the title and promotion.
