McLaughlin heads to Majorca to continue preparations
AFTER making the switch to Madison Genesis for the 2015 season, James McLaughlin says he is as fit as he has ever been ahead of another important few months.
The 24-year-old Guernseyman enjoyed a magnificent 2014 campaign with brilliant top-10 finishes at both the time trial and road race in the national championships, as well as in the Commonwealth Games time trial.
But those aside, most of his season was spent racing somewhat under the radar in France, whereas his switch back to the UK promises an action-packed, high-quality race programme.
His season is set to begin in March and although he is yet to have the official team unveiling with his team-mates, who include fellow Sarnian Tobyn Horton, he has been busy with his individual pre-season programme.
McLaughlin arrived in Majorca on Monday for his warm-weather training and he is in relaxed mood with the start of a new chapter not too far away.
'I have been training since October, mainly in Guernsey, but the warm-weather training now in the right climate is a vital part of the pre-season preparation,' he said.
'This is another big year for me with a new team and I am highly motivated to do well.'
