Panthers coaches have to make tough choices

ABUNDANCE of choice has meant that Guernsey Panthers have had to leave two regulars out of their squad for this weekend's Division Three trip to Wokingham.

Knowing they are a maximum of four wins away from the league title and with it promotion, Panthers are looking for their eighth straight win and to at least consolidate their three-point cushion at the top.

Such is their strength in depth now, Shelley Jager – a regular starter in the first half of the season – has not made the final cut, while Isla Murdoch also misses out on the squad of 10.

Panthers joint-coach Denise Bourgaize has sympathy for both players, but is pleased to be in a position where she is having to choose between 'quality and quality' when deciding match-day squads.

'I know it can be quite upsetting for girls who have been left out, but that is the position we are now in because we have so many different options available,' she said.
