Burgess Hill Town 3, Guernsey FC 0
TONY VANCE was left ruing not scoring at the 'right moments', but knows that Saturday's defeat is not a disaster – as long as Guernsey FC respond positively.
With big rivals Whyteleafe nicking a 1-0 win at Redhill, the upcoming three successive home games have taken on increased significance for the Green Lions.
Jason Thompson's solitary strike means that Whyteleafe climb into fifth place, leading GFC by 10 points, although Vance's men have a game in hand.
The GFC manager knows that wiping out that deficit in just 14 remaining games will be tough, but by no means impossible.
'We have four Saturdays in a row at home now, with one midweek away in that time, so the next three or weeks will shape our season,' he said.
'If we can win all of those games, then we will have an excellent chance of finishing where we want to, which is in that final play-off spot.'
As for his side's display in their 3-0 defeat to Burgess Hill, the Lions boss believes that on another day, his side could have ended the league leaders' long unbeaten run.
'It certainly wasn't a 3-0 game, but they scored their goals all at the right moments, so the scoreline was very harsh on us.'
