Folkestone Invicta 5, Guernsey FC 2

THEIR play-off hopes suffered what look to be a fatal blow, but Tony Vance believes that Guernsey FC showed they belong at Ryman South's top table on Saturday.

The Green Lions were guilty of not taking their chances in a harsh 5-2 defeat at third-placed Folkestone Invicta, a result that leaves them 11 points short of the top-five with just eight games remaining.

Ross Allen's brace – including a stunning first – was warming to see from a GFC perspective, but manager Vance says that wasn't the only positive.

His side are 10th in the table, although it was the result of fifth-placed Whyteleafe – who held off a late comeback for an impressive 3-2 win at Faversham Town – that looks most damaging.

'The scoreline was really harsh on us because it suggested a one-sided contest when it was anything but that and on the balance of play, we didn't deserve to lose,' said Vance.
