At the age of 35, he is also comfortably the youngest person to hold the position in the 112-year history of British bowling after the unanimous vote in Manchester.

He will hold the position for a year after spending the last 15 years involved in every British Championship in either a playing or administrative capacity.

'I am extremely proud and although there aren't too many events in a year and therefore the workload isn't huge, this is the highest honour you can get in British bowls,' said Collins.
