The Charnwood AC runner led from gun to tape on a beautiful morning to cement his position at the top of the standings, which allowed him the chance to joke afterwards that he was pleased to get through the concluding race error-free after his wrong turn in Saturday's cross-country cost him victory at L'Ancresse.

He then revealed that he plans to come back and defend his crown next year.

'I've earned a nice cheque out of this weekend, so I'd be a mug not to,' Lewis said with a beaming smile.

'I am knackered now, though. Four races in four days is a big effort, but it is really well-organised – these guys put on a great show.'
