Jones given new deal by Pirates
THE Cornish Pirates confirmed earlier this week that Guernsey-born winger Luke Jones has put his signature to a new deal at the Mennaye Field.
Jones (21), who will be starting his third season in Cornwall, has been supported by the Guernsey Sports Commission under an initiative that involves offering guidance and funding to help chosen able individuals to fulfil their potential.
He has made 19 appearances for the Pirates, and also enjoyed a loan spell, gaining worthy experience, at Redruth. Unfortunately suffering a leg injury early this season, the former England under 18s winger is naturally looking forward to bursting out of the blocks once again.
Pirates' director of rugby Ian Davies said the Guernsey youngster was due a change of luck.
'Luke has developed well under Gavin Cattle's guidance and was unfortunate to get injured just as he was starting to break into the starting XV.'
