MILES MUNRO will be looking for World Championship qualification when he begins his quest for British glory later this afternoon.

Guernsey's fastest-ever swimmer is in action at the London Aquatics Centre for the remainder of this week as the British Championships take place.

A year on from his brilliance at the 2014 edition in Glasgow, where he lowered both the 50m and 100m freestyle island records, he will be looking for more strong swims.

His Barracudas coach Alison Frankland says that lowering his personal best times – and automatically with that the island records – should be his aim.

It is in the 50m butterfly where he begins his campaign today, before competing in the 100m freestyle tomorrow and the 50m freestyle on Friday. His best for the 50m freestyle currently stands at 22.58sec. and the 100m mark is 50.75, while he also holds the 50m butterfly island record of 24.49.

'Miles has changed his training environment within the last few months and is now based in the UK, which always takes some getting used to for any swimmer,' she said.

'So his times haven't been as quick, but hopefully he can get some personal bests in the British Championships, which I am sure is his aim.'
