New challenge will benefit batsmen
JAMIE NUSSBAUMER believes Guernsey are entering at the right level of UK competition after being accepted into Division Two of the Sussex Premier League.
And he hopes that the island side can be competitive at a standard he expects to be 'slightly higher than World Cricket League Division Six', when they begin in 2016.
Division Two is the second tier of the Sussex League and although Guernsey will only play each of the other 10 sides once, rather than twice, they will still be given an unofficial final position at the end of the season.
Guernsey captain Nussbaumer admits it is a step into the unknown for what is a young island side, but is relishing the challenge in front of them from next summer.
'It is a brilliant step forward for us and I think entering at Division Two is right for us while we find our feet and learn what our level is, but also because we have no divine right to enter straight into the Premier Division,' he said.
'I am not totally sure what the standard will be like, but I would expect it to be slightly higher than WCL Division Six, which we are playing in this September.'
